Who we are

About the founder

Alex Bates, an 18-year-old entrepreneur and 2026 graduate of Duxbury High School, has launched Encore Artists, a dynamic new retail website designed to help aspiring artists showcase and sell their work to a broader audience.

Bates, who will attend Colby College this fall to study Economics with a focus on financial markets, developed Encore Artists to address a challenge many emerging artists face: finding an accessible and affordable platform to present and monetize their creative work.

Encore Artists offers a simple, user-friendly storefront where artists of all types can submit and feature their work while connecting directly with buyers who appreciate original creativity. The platform’s current collection includes short stories, novellas, nature photography, and landscape paintings, with plans to expand into additional creative categories as more artists join the community.

“Encore Artists was built to give talented creators a place to be seen,” said Bates. “There are so many aspiring writers, photographers, and artists whose work deserves an audience. My goal is to make it easy for them to showcase their talent, invite others to join, and help promote their work so they can grow their following and generate sales.”

In addition to providing a digital storefront, Encore Artists supports artists through cost-effective marketing and promotional efforts designed to increase visibility and drive engagement with potential buyers.

Bates hopes the platform will grow into a vibrant community where emerging artists can share their creativity, build confidence, and reach new audiences.

Encore Artists is currently inviting aspiring artists to submit their work and become part of the growing creative marketplace.

Bill McMULLen

Bill has spent more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry, building a career rooted in experience, dedication, and adaptability. Alongside his professional journey, he has always had a deep appreciation for photography. Although he set his camera aside for more than 25 years, his passion for the art never faded. Recently, Bill has rediscovered that creative spark and has begun reconnecting with photography, bringing a renewed perspective shaped by both time and life experience.

After more than thirty years as a successful pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing executive, Mike recently stepped away from the corporate world. Throughout his career, he was known for blending strategy with creativity—developing ideas, building brands, and helping others bring their visions to life. While he continues to advise colleagues and companies through select advisory roles, retirement opened the door for Mike to explore a more personal creative passion: writing short stories. What began as a hobby quickly rekindled something he had always believed in: the power of storytelling and artistic expression.
